Few People Realize How Much Art History Is Preserved In The Small Town Of Millville, New Jersey
WheatonArts in Millville, New Jersey, is a cultural hub featuring the Museum of American Glass, which showcases extensive glass-blowing art and history.
At the center of Millville, a historic small town in New Jersey, you'll find WheatonArts. A towering structure housed partially in an old factory; this multi-use art complex has become one of our favorite cultural hubs of the Garden State. It hosts regular events and exhibits throughout the year – but only one part of the museum will take you back in time to explore New Jersey’s art history. The art of glass-blowing, one of the most challenging art forms, was developed extensively here, and that history has been preserved in the Museum of American Glass. In addition to countless stunning pieces of glass artwork, carefully preserved, you’ll find a recreation of a historic glass-blowing workshop. In our opinion, it’s one of the most fascinating museums in Millville New Jersey, and as WheatonArts enters its new season, we encourage you to come out and experience it for yourself.
The WheatonArts building looks like an old industrial building, but it has been transformed into a modern celebration of New Jersey art history.
The multi-use complex is host to countless visiting artists, exhibits, and festivals throughout the year - but one attraction stands above them all.
The Museum of American Glass is one of the country's largest collections of glass-blowing art, collecting over a century of exhibits big and small.
The museum also has a working glass-blowing forge on the grounds, and visitors can get a first-hand look.
You'll see many glass and ceramic works in all levels of completion.
Vintage glass-blowing tools line the walls - and some of them can still be seen in action on a daily basis!
That's because the museum is home to an active glass-blowing fellowship, bringing in talented artists from around the world to hone their craft in the forge.
The WheatonArts grounds are also home to a beautiful nature trail, open for exploring once you're done at the museum.
