Not only is New Jersey a peninsula, we have dozens of rivers throughout our state. Being surrounded by so much water also means being surrounded by some spectacular bridges. From massive archways to mellow footbridges, New Jersey has got it all. Here are some spectacular bridges just begging to be crossed.
1, Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, Palmyra
This bridge spans the Delaware from Palmyra, NJ to Philadelphia. Built in 1929, the 3659 foot bridge features a pedestrian walkway with spectacular views.
2. Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge, Frenchtown
This toll-free bridge will get you to Pennsylvania but very slowly. The speed limit is 15 miles per hour.
3. Bayonne Bridge, Bayonne
Connecting New Jersey to Staten Island, the Bayonne Bridge is the 5th longest steel arch bridge in the world.
4. Washington Crossing Bridge, Hopewell
Cross the Delaware River as Washington did centuries ago, you'll likely have a much easier time.
5. Yellow Bridge, Piscataway
This pretty pedestrian bridge wants nothing more than to be strolled across.
6. Great Falls Bridge, Paterson
Cross this pedestrian bridge over the Passaic River for spectacular views of the magnificent falls.
7. George Washington Bridge, Fort Lee
Connecting New Jersey to Manhattan and the rest of the Northeast, the GWB is the busiest motor vehicle bridge in the world.
8. Appalachian Trail Bridge, Vernon
The Appalachian Trail runs from Maine to Georgia. Should you decide to hike it, you'll come across this beautiful bridge near Vernon.
9. New Bridge Road Bridge, Salem
This captivating bridge is barricaded and I really want to know why. Salem residents - any ideas?
10. Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Camden
Cross this bridge by foot, car or rail. This Jersey to Philly bridge has a unique "zipper barrier" feature which allows lane divisions to be mechanically adjusted.
