The Country Doctor Museum And Farm In New Hampshire Is Extra Special When Surrounded By Fall Foliage

Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm in Tamworth Village offers a unique glimpse into rural New Hampshire's history and is a top fall activity.

Here in New Hampshire, there's always something unique to see. We especially love the interesting and oftentimes unexpected history that can be found here. From nature walks to abandoned mansions, stories of the past surround us.  And none is more fun to explore than this museum and farm! It's interesting any time of year, but I enjoy taking friends and family from out of town to see it when the leaves are changing. It's certainly one of the best things to do in the fall in New Hampshire.

For a look back into the history of the more rural parts of New Hampshire, visit the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm in Tamworth Village.

The area is truly stunning, with rolling hills, forest, and quaint homes and streets.

This is where father and son country doctors, Dr. Edwin Remick and Dr. Edwin “Doc” Crafts Remick, practiced for nearly 100 years combined!

Exhibits are set up throughout the house to show what it might have been like to be a country doctor in Tamworth Village way back in the day.

Everything has been recreated in such a way that you can almost imagine a doctor rushing in to grab his bag before making an important house call.

The museum and surrounding area sit on 100 acres of land and include two Remick family homes, three barns, outbuildings, and a sprawling farm that's home to lots of animals today.

Also on the property are a few trails, the most popular of which is the 0.5-mile Binsack Trail, with views of Mount Chocorua and the Ossipee Mountain Range.

Guided tours are available and highly encouraged as this is a great way to understand as much as you can about life as a country doctor in town.

Throughout the year visitors can enjoy special events catered to the season. In the fall we love activities like "Farmsploring," which offers a fun free-form way to explore and enjoy both the history and the sites.

And then, of course, there are the many forests that surround the museum and farm. These always offer splendid fall foliage.

Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm is open at varying times throughout the year. To plan your visit it's best to visit the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm website. There are specific guidelines and hours for the trail, so be sure to pay special attention to that if your plan is to enjoy the outdoors, too. You can see more photos and keep track of special events by following Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm. You can reach the museum at 603-323-7591.

This is undoubtedly one of the best things to do in the fall in New Hampshire, but the fun doesn't end here. Continue to explore the state this season by visiting some of the most beautiful local overlooks. Visiting each one makes for a fun road trip idea. Just be sure you've packed enough snacks by following our guide. It might be the most important part of any journey on the road!
