This Historic Railroad Yard In Nevada Is Like A Time Capsule From The Wild West

Nevada is a state that is endlessly proud of its history. In fact, there is an abundance of places where you can still experience the Silver State's old days, back when the Wild West was conquered and much of our state had yet to be explored. One of these places is the historic railroad yard in the old mining town of Goldfield. This railroad yard is living history at its finest. Home to all sorts of historic gems, including old automobiles and train cars, strolling through this place is like traveling 100 years back in time. Whether you're a history enthusiast or you just love exploring, this awesome historic Nevada town is a must-visit destination.

If you've ever wanted to get a taste of what life in Nevada was like in the old days, there's no better place to go than Goldfield.

The historic town in Esmeralda County is like a time capsule—rich with historic buildings and all kinds of old artifacts.

If you do visit Goldfield, a stop at the Bullfrog-Goldfield Railroad Yard is a must.

The yard is a treasure trove of old automobiles, miner cabins, train parts, and so much more. Exploring it is like taking a walk back in time.

You'll find the yard located directly across from one of the few businesses in town, the Santa Fe Saloon.

Fascinatingly enough, this now historic railyard in Nevada was the actual maintenance yard for the formerly operating Bullfrog-Goldfield Railroad.

Back in the early 1900s, the mining industry was still booming.

In fact, enough mining was taking place to warrant a train route which connected the mining communities together. This particular route connected Goldfield all the way to the Bullfrog Mining District, located just outside of Beatty.

This railroad line was in operation through 1928.

At that time, the mining days were pretty much over. The railroad yard was destined to sit untouched, absorbing the effects of time.

Today, guests are welcome to peruse the yard via a self-guided tour. The yard is open year-round and at all hours. Whether you're a history buff or you simply have a fascination with all-things-Nevada, this railroad yard is an incredible place to visit.

There is no price of admission to view the railroad yard. However, donations are always welcome since further preservation of these historic artifacts relies almost solely on contributions from visitors.
