Dream Spring Break in Nebraska: Where I’d Go if Money Was No Object

Chadron is one of my favorite small towns in Nebraska. It truly comes alive in the spring, and believe it or not, it's an awesome destination for springtime traditions like spring break. Why bother going somewhere like Florida or California when you can skip the big crowds, go somewhere quiet, and enjoy yourself just as much? For me, it's perfect. My heart's forever in the Midwest, and spring break is a great time to fall in love with it all over again.

Chadron is a town of just over 5,000 people in Dawes County. It's a beautiful place smack-dab in the middle of the plains, and it's absolutely worth visiting - especially for an occasion like a low-key spring break. It's everything spring break in other places isn't - it's quiet, peaceful, and absolutely gorgeous, with seemingly endless opportunities to enjoy the town itself and the natural wonders that surround it.

And you won't be under all the pressure to party that often accompanies a spring break trip. In Nebraska, all are welcome no matter how you want to do your spring break. Besides, we do things differently here.

There's a little bit of everything here for everyone, from awesome, memorable museums like the High Plains Heritage Center, the Dawes County Historical Museum, and others (the Museum of the Fur Trade is much more interesting than it might sound!) to the natural delights like Chadron State Park, which is breathtaking, the Pine Ridge Natural Recreation Area (wildflowers and wildlife abounds!), and countless hiking trails.

And you know what? If you do want to party it up a little bit and live it up, several of delightful local bars are just waiting for you to show up and make memories. Amazingly, all the local places are highly rated and super-beloved by locals, and as long as you're kind and mind your manners, the locals don't mind visitors.

No matter who you are - the history buff, the nature lover, or yes, even the partier - you're sure to find all kinds of reasons to love a trip to Chadron, Nebraska, this spring. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty exhausted of all the drinking and cantankery that goes on at traditional spring break locations, so non-traditional locations are my jam. Let's do Kansas next year!
