There’s A Delicious Cafe Hiding Inside This Old Nebraska Barn That’s Begging For A Visit

The Village Barn in Harrison, Nebraska offers a unique dining experience with a diverse menu in a charming A-frame barn.

We're used to seeing roadside barns from one end of Nebraska to the other, but how often do you get to park in front of one and go in for a delicious meal? This small western Nebraska barn is so much more than meets the eye.

Tucked away in the far northwestern corner of the state is the tiny town of Harrison with a population of 251 people.

On the edge of town, right on Hwy 20, is this sweet A-frame barn. Don't mistake it for just another barn, though; this is a totally unique dining experience.

The Village Barn is small but mighty. It offers an unlikely range of cuisines: Asian, Thai, Mexican, and American.

In most restaurants with such a wide variety of cuisines, at least one of them is usually lacking in quality. Not at the Village Barn, however.

Equal care is given to each of the cuisines and to every individual dish. Everything comes out perfectly balanced and even tastier than you might imagine from a roadside cafe.

There are the quick standby diner selections like BLTs, club sandwiches and burgers...

...Heartier fare like chicken fried steak...

...And a wide selection of slightly more exotic fare like pad Thai, fried rice, curries, and these amazing-looking smothered burritos.

There are only a few tables inside, but rest assured that there's a place for everyone. This friendly establishment is well worth a stop every time you're in the area.

The Village Barn Cafe is located at 410 E Hwy 20, Harrison, NE 69346. It's open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day but Sunday. Get more info about this unique establishment on the restaurant's Facebook page.
