Did you know that Montana has its own aviation museum? If you didn't, you're certainly not alone. The Stonehenge Air Museum sits way up in northwest Montana, not far from the Canadian border. But, when weather and current conditions permit, it's worth making the trip to check it out... especially if you have a passion for planes.

The Stonehenge Air Museum is located near Fortine and Eureka, a very picturesque part of the state.

The museum sits on private property in a residential neighborhood, so this isn't exactly a roadside attraction that's easy to find.

The museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit that is open Monday through Friday by appointment only.

This place is home to over two dozen vintage aircraft, including the world’s only airworthy Mk47 Seafire.

The Museum preserves the histories of these aircraft as a way of increasing the public's appreciation and understanding of the history of aviation.

Planes do have a pretty amazing history, and touring this museum will make you appreciate them so much more.

Even if you're not a "plane person," you just might leave with a new hobby.

Special attention is given to military aircraft, as the museum has a goal of not only honoring the pilots and crews who flew and maintained them, but every veteran who served our country.

The museum collection is owned by James E. Smith, who is passionate about honoring aviation history.

Admission to the museum us $8 for adults and $5 for seniors, military members, and older children.

Children five and under are admitted free.

Most of Montana is staying home this spring, but it won't be long before we're exploring our beautiful state once again.
