The Grand Auglaize Swinging Bridge was built in 1922 by Joseph Dice. The area is now encompassed by the Lake Ozark State Park.
Visitors can find two suspended bridges on Swinging Bridge Road in the park but the wooden Grand Auglaize Swinging Bridge is the oldest and most thrilling.
The bridge is held by cables and is suspended high above the water. When walking across you may not feel the bridge moving but you certainly can on a windy day or when a car crosses.
Original towers, cables, railings, and floor beams are present on the bridge. However, inspectors believe the bridge may be structurally deficient
Yet, this does not stop people from crossing this rickety bridge on a daily basis.
Are you daring enough to cross this shaky, old suspended bridge?
Find the bridge on Swinging Bridges Road just off Highway 42 inside Lake Ozarks State Park.
