The Unassuming Town Of Pascagoula, Mississippi Is One Of America’s Best Hidden Gems For A Weekend Getaway

Pascagoula, a hidden gem on the Gulf Coast, offers scenic views, historic sites, and unique dining experiences.

When you're longing for a Gulf Coast getaway, Biloxi and Gulf Shores are two of the most popular options. But if you want to escape the crowds, Pascagoula is a hidden gem. Located close to the Mississippi/Alabama border, Pascagoula often gets overlooked for its sister cities to the west, but there's a lot to love about this Jackson County town. If the question for you is, "Where is Pascagoula located," come along as we show off this unassuming Mississippi town:

Pascagoula Beach Park is a great place to start your adventure.

Overlooking the water, you'll have a front-row seat to watch the waves roll in. Take a stroll along the pier or sink your toes in the sand and enjoy the views in this, one of the most wonderful small towns in Mississippi!

Though technically not in Pascagoula, Shepard State Park is just a short drive across the bridge.

The park is located in Gautier, which is about nine miles west of Pascagoula. This 395-acre park features beautiful hiking trails, dog parks, disc golf, and several campsites, too.

If you have a canoe or a kayak, bring it along to explore the endless waterways.

If you are a foodie, you'll be really happy here.

That is because when it comes to restaurants in Pascagoula, there are plenty of options.

There are so many locally-owned eateries that are worth a stop!

We'd recommend Jack's By The Tracks, a unique restaurant in Pascagoula where you can enjoy everything from sushi to po'boys!

For lodging, you can't go wrong with a charming bed and breakfast like the Grand Magnolia Ballroom.

The Grand Magnolia Ballroom will become your new home away from home. It's centrally located in town, so you'll be right in the heart of everything. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, and the porch is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. We think it's one of the most romantic places to stay in Mississippi.

Music and history lovers alike will want to pass by Jimmy Buffet's childhood home.

That's right! Mr. Margaritaville himself grew up in this house. This is more of a quick drive-by than an actual tour... but it's definitely a unique thing to do in Pascagoula!

And don't forget to snag a selfie with the Round Island Lighthouse.

This historic lighthouse in Mississippi is one of the first things you'll see as you cross the Pascagoula River Bridge. It has a pretty fascinating history, and you can learn all about it on the tour! Most notably is its current location. It was actually built on Round Island (hence the name) in 1833 but was destroyed before being rebuilt in 1859. After many hurricanes pounded the poor beacon, it was finally moved and restored to where it is today.

So, if someone were to ask you, “Where is Pascagoula located?” you’d know what to tell them!
