The Dinosaur Trail at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science offers a fun and educational outdoor adventure with life-sized dinosaur models.

Did you know there are dinosaurs in Mississippi?! And no, we're not talking about Mississippi dinosaur fossils. We're talking about huge, 3D dinosaur models. The life-like creations are part of the state's newest trail. Aptly named the Dinosaur Trail, the short, shaded path offers a prehistoric adventure that’s fun for all ages.

The newest addition to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson, the Dinosaur Trail officially opened on July 1, 2022.

Merging recreation and education, the trail provides the perfect opportunity for visitors of all ages to enjoy the outdoors all while learning about the prehistoric giants that once roamed the Earth.

True to its name, the short, shaded path is lined with dinosaurs.

All in all, there are six large-scale, 3D dinosaur models nestled along the trail.

Those trekking the Dinosaur Trail will come face to face with a Triceratops, T-Rex, Chasmosaurus, Nodosaurus, Appalachiosaurus, and an Eotrachodon.

There’s also a nest with newly hatched dino babies.

Each dinosaur is accompanied by signage that provides info on its height, length, weight, diet, and time period, making the trail as educational as it is fun.

You can do more than admire dinosaurs on the Dinosaur Trail, though.

You can ride them too – and that’s because, in addition to six stationary dinosaur models, there are several electric ride-on dinosaurs.

The Dinosaur Trail might be the newest addition to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, but it’s not the only reason to visit.
