Mississippi is home to numerous historic and architecturally significant bridges, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Bridges are such a common sight that often times we forget to stop, take a look, and appreciate them for the architectural works of art that they actually are. And, as it turns out, Mississippi is filled with some pretty awesome bridges – many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. So, check out the list below for some of the state’s most interesting bridges.

1. Bridge in Brooklyn, Mississippi

This old truss bridge used to link U.S.49 with the small community of Brooklyn.

2. Stuckey’s Bridge

Built in the early 1900’s, this Lauderdale County bridge is supposedly haunted by the ghost of Mr. Stuckey, a man who was hanged from it some time ago.

3. Lamb Fish Bridge

Located in Tallahatchie County, this bridge was constructed in the early 1900’s by American Bridge Company.

4. Mahned Bridge

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this bridge was constructed in 1903 and spans the Leaf River.

5. Big Black River Railroad Bridge

Spanning the Big Black River, this bridge was constructed in the early 1900’s and by the late 1980’s it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

6. The Mississippi River Bridge

7. Fairground Street Bridge

Located in Vicksburg, this bridge was constructed in the late 1800’s.

8. Enterprise Bridge

This abandoned Clarke County bridge spans the Chickasawhay River.

9. Motley Slough Bridge

The historic Lowndes County bridge is located on Schaffer Chapel Road and has been designated a Mississippi Landmark.

10. Tibbee Creek Railroad Bridge

This abandoned bridge, which spans Tibbee Creek, was built 1896 by the Southern Bridge Co.

11. Byram Swinging Bridge

Spanning the Pearl River, this bridge is located in both Hinds and Rankin County.

12. Eddiceton Bridge

Constructed in 1909, Eddiceton Bridge is located in Franklin County.

13. R.H. Henry Bridge

Spanning the Big Black River, this bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the early 2000’s.

14. Shubuta Bridge

This Mississippi Landmark was built in the early 1900’s and spans the Chickasawhay River.

15. Covered Bridge at Mineral Springs Park

This Iuka covered bridge couldn’t look anymore perfect.

16. Columbus and Greenville Railway Bridge

Part of the former Columbus and Greenville Railway, this bridge spans the Yazoo River.
