There are so many awesome attractions worth checking out in Mississippi. From numerous historical homes to heaps of outdoor activities, the state isn't lacking when it comes to things to do. Sometimes, however, you want a truly unique experience, and you’re in luck because, as it turns out, our state has several attractions that can only be found in Mississippi.
1. Visit the top landmark in the city of Tupelo – the birthplace of Elvis Presley.
2. Another famous birthplace, the Mississippi Blues Trail, tells the story of how American music was born.
3. And since we’re talking about trails, the Mississippi Tamale Trail is a must. The Delta has long been associated with the tamale and this is your chance to enjoy several versions of this Mississippi cuisine.
4. Only in Mississippi will you have the opportunity to tour the home of William Faulkner. Located in Oxford, Rowan Oak is open year round.
5. And if you want to continue visiting homes of historical figures, you’ll need to visit Beauvoir, the final home of Jefferson Davis.
6. There’s only one apron museum in the entire world, and it just so happens to be located in Iuka.
7. Visit the grave of Sylvester MaGee, the oldest man and last living slave, at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Foxworth.
8. With graves totaling over 17,000, the Vicksburg National Cemetery is the nation’s largest burial site of Civil War Union soldiers and sailors.
9. An extremely unique experience, the Lower Mississippi River Museum in Vicksburg is the first of its kind in the United States.
10. Kermit the Frog has only one birthplace and its right here in Mississippi. The Birthplace of Kermit the Frog Exhibit in Leland is a must for all those Muppet lovers out there.
