I'm always on the hunt for unique things to do in Mississippi. From Tishomingo State Park to Ship Island, the Magnolia State is just chock-full of adventures that would take a lifetime to fully explore. Speaking of Ship Island, Ship Island Excursions offers a unique opportunity to take a dolphin tour in Mississippi, and this is one excursion that the entire family will enjoy. Let's check it out:
The dolphin-watching cruise offered by Ship Island Excursions departs from the Ship Island dock in Gulfport Small Craft Harbor, Jones Park.
The tour lasts about 90 minutes and is offered from March until the end of November.
Once the cruise sets sail, find a good spot and settle in!
There is a snack bar on board, too.
While the cruise can’t guarantee a dolphin sighting, there are nearly 100,000 bottled-nosed dolphins living their best lives in the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico, so the odds are in your favor.
Ship Island Excursions actually offers a few different tours you may be interested in. One of the most popular is the ferry service to Ship Island.
The white sandy beaches and beautiful blue water is like having our own little Caribbean island!
The treeless island offers minimal shade, so you may want to rent a beach umbrella and chairs ahead of time. And definitely remember to bring the sunscreen!
This ferry runs from March until October and takes about an hour. You might even see a few dolphins on the ride over!
The island is also home to Fort Massachusetts, which was used during the Civil War.
This historic fort has survived countless hurricanes and still stands tall. Feel free to wander around the fort while you’re here.
