There’s No Better Way To Spend A Winter Day Than Ice Skating At The Mississippi Coast Coliseum

Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi offers one of the few ice skating rinks in the state, providing a unique winter activity for residents.

Residents in the majority of the nation have ample opportunities when it comes to enjoying quintessential activities during winter in Mississippi, like sledding and ice skating. Unfortunately for us residents of the Magnolia State, the options are either slim or completely non-existent. Luckily, ice skating in Mississippi falls into the first category. There aren’t many rinks, but there is one place you can partake in the classic cold-weather activity. Take a look at some of the best ice skating in Biloxi:

Located in Biloxi, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center is the largest beachfront facility of its kind in the South.

It's a bastion of family fun all year, but in the winter, things REALLY get going.

Throughout the year, the massive venue plays host to Broadway productions, comedians, professional sports, rodeos, festivals, circuses, and world-class musical performances.

It's undoubtedly a delight no matter what you're into; you're sure to find more than a few activities and events you'll love.

And since the coliseum includes an ice skating rink, ice shows, such as Disney on Ice, are a common occurrence.

But you know what else that means:

During the winter season, the rink has another purpose – it’s open to the public, serving as one of the only ice skating rinks in the state!

Woo hoo!

The rink opens for the 2022 season in November; it's a special time of year for everyone who calls themselves a lover of winter.

Due to COVID, there have been a few changes put in place, such as limiting the number of skaters allowed on the ice (which honestly is pretty nice, considering fewer crowds).

In order to skate, you’ll have to purchase a ticket, which is $13 and includes admission and skate rental.

Each ticket gets you access to one skate session, which lasts 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time on the ice.

For an extra special treat, consider heading to the rink for one of its special events, like Skating with Santa or a “theme night.”

Fun for the entire family, the themes include everything from the 60s, 80s, and 90s to the Wild Wild West and Ugly Sweater.

Have young and/or inexperienced skaters in your bunch? No problem, simply rent the rink’s popular skating aid, Bobby the Seal, for just $10. Providing skaters with something to hold on to — it virtually eliminates falls. Que helpful!
