You Can Now Tour Acadia National Park In Maine From The Comfort Of Your Own Home
Acadia National Park can be explored virtually through Google Earth, offering a detailed and interactive experience.
Acadia National Park is one of the most wonderful landmarks in the state of Maine. But it's also located pretty far north from the state's border with New Hampshire. That means it might not be in everyone's backyard. If you're not lucky enough to live close enough for a quick visit, we've got great news! If you're too far or the weather has you stuck inside, check a virtual tour of the park from afar!
Acadia National Park, one of the most beautiful in the country, offers everything from calming walks to challenging hikes. Plus, some of the most beautiful driving.
But, it's not accessible to everyone. Whether you live out of the state or just can't make the hours long drive from within Maine, it can be hard to know that something so beautiful is just out of reach.
Add rainy days to the mix and you've got a recipe from some serious FOMO (that's, "fear of missing out" for folks who don't know)!
But, Google Earth has an answer! Right now you can access their National Park virtual tours to explore Acadia from anywhere you can access WiFi or cell connectivity.
The easy-to-use interface includes a map where you can identify which park you'd like to visit. Of course, we assume Acadia will be your first choice!
Once you're in the park, there are 9 different areas you can explore. Head to Sand Beach to enjoy a summer day on the sand! You can also navigate the screen to see 360-degrees around you.
Zoom in to get as close as you'd like. This will allow you to see details. In some cases the photos used have been shared by visitors while others are actual Google Earth images.
We also love the topographical feature which allows virtual visitors to get a sense of how the park is laid out.
This is a great tool for curious folks who love exploring, but it's also a great educational tool for kids.
Once you've seen Acadia National Park in a whole new way, check out the other parks included in the feature. You can travel right from here!
