The Hidden Castle In Louisiana That Almost No One Knows About

Louisiana Castle in Franklinton is a popular venue with a fascinating history, built in 1989.

Did you know Louisiana has seven castles? (You can read about them in our previous article here.) This one in particular is a lesser known castle in Washington Parish with a fascinating history. Let's take a look.

You’ll find the Louisiana Castle in the heart of Franklinton, just off of Highway 10.

Their address is 47168 Highway 10, Franklinton, Louisiana 70438.

A popular venue for weddings, reunions, and other celebrations, the Louisiana Castle will enchant you from the moment you arrive.

The lawns are perfectly manicured, the gardens are blooming...everything is absolutely perfect.

Even though this castle looks like it was built centuries ago, it was actually built in 1989.

Dr. Mark Belcher knew he wanted to live in a castle after watching a movie "The War Lord" in 1971. He then toured England in the late 1970s to get inspiration for his dream castle.

Construction on the castle began in 1989 and two years and 85,000 bricks later, the castle was completed.

Dr. Belcher lived in the castle for almost a decade before being purchased by Dolly and Steve Illg in 1999.

They thought the castle would make a lovely setting for weddings, and we couldn’t agree with them more.

Simply stunning!
