Experience Life In The 1800’s With a Visit To Louisiana’s Acadian Village

Visit LARC’s Acadian Village in Lafayette to experience a beautifully preserved 19th-century Cajun village.

Ready to transport yourself through time? Well, then you have to make your way over to Lafayette where you’ll find the Acadian Village, a beautiful 32-acre attraction that will transport you to early Acadian times so you can get a glimpse of what life was like 200 years ago.

Welcome to LARC’S Acadian Village.

Located in Lafayette, this beautiful hidden gem was created in the 1970s in order to improve tourism and preserve Acadian heritage.

The entire village replicates a typical Cajun village from the 1800s.

There are a dozen buildings to view, and seven of them are authentic homes from the 19th century that have been donated by the families whose ancestors once occupied them.

Every one of the authentic buildings was moved by hand, piece by piece, with the utmost care for preserving these historic gems.

It’s truly an incredible glimpse into the past, to see how our early ancestors lived their daily lives.

The lazy little bayou adds the perfect touch.

There are often geese and ducks around the area, too.

From schoolhouses to weaving cottages, you'll get to wander throughout all of the buildings.

It's an incredibly educational and inspiring place to visit.

All of the furniture has been recreated or restored to replicate the time period.

The whole family will love this special place.

And during the holiday season, the village transforms into a Winter Wonderland that's a must-see.

During the month of December, over a million lights illuminate the village that would make even the Grinch smile.

LARC'S Acadian Village is open six days a week.

It's open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information, be sure to check out its website and give them a follow on Facebook.
