Prices in New Orleans are definitely going up...but there are still some free things that are really special to do when you are in the city. We think you are going to love some of these fun activities when you don't have a lot of money.

1) Volunteer at Hollygrove Market and Farm.

This friendly market accepts volunteers to help organize their weekly produce bag--and you get a free one in return!

2) Take an exercise class in Crescent Park.

There are a wide variety of free classes available with great views of the Mississippi River.

3) People-watch in Jackson Square.

There's maybe no other public square like it in the United States.

4) Play chess in Mystery Park on Esplanade Ave.

This lovely gathering place has an amazing concentration of butterflies.

5) Watch the sunset at the Fly.

You'll be charmed by the beautiful views.

6) Watch the sunrise over Lake Pontchartrain.

There are a bunch of awesome places to watch the sun come up around Lake Pontchartrain, including the point and Lakeshore Drive.

7) Take a walk through the Sculpture Garden at City Park.

This lovely garden consistently has new sculptures added to their diverse collection---there's something for everyone here and the trees are beautiful as well.

Countless amazing stores line the streets here, offering up their locally sourced goods.

9) Stand At the edge of the Mississippi River.

This majestic river is one of the cornerstones of our city--from the area past Woldenberg Park to the Uptown River levee, it's awesome to see.

10) Go to a festival or live concert.
