Is there anything better than snuggling up to a wonderful book, especially when the summer heat makes it challenging to go outside? To me, there isn't. Except for maybe...exploring book stores. Here are some of the sweetest bookstores in New Orleans that we know you will fall in love with...if you haven't already.

1) Blue Cypress Books, 8126 Oak St.

Blue Cypress can be found on Oak Street and it's one of the most adorable little shops you will find. It is also a used book store, meaning there is a lot of things you can discover here that you might not be able to find at other stores. Lots of great recommendations to be discovered here as well.

2) Crescent City Books, 124 Baronne St.

Have you ever visited this beautiful shop in the French Quarter? We think you are going to love it. There are some amazing books and prints to discover and lots of other special items you can only hope to find in the French Quarter. Take your time exploring here.

3) Faulkner House Books, 624 Pirates Alley

This special little shop is found right next to St. Louis Cathedral. It's found in the same building that William Faulkner lived in when he wrote the novel Soldier's Pay. There's an incredible selection of first edition books that you will love discovering here.

4) Garden District Book Shop, 2727 Prytania St.

This neighborhood store makes for a beautiful afternoon exploring. They have a great kid's selection as well. And there are often great author events taking place here.

5) Octavia Books, 513 Octavia St.

Over the years, Octavia Books has slowly become one of the most popular neighborhood bookstores in New Orleans. They regularly host amazing author events and have lots of local authors here. It's an awesome atmosphere and I always discover something new and exciting to read.

6) Tubby & Coo’s Mid-City Book Shop, 631 N Carrollton Ave.

Another one of the newer stores on this list, Tubby & Coo's is a fan girl's dream. They truly have a community atmosphere that makes it always a joy to visit here. They have a focused science fiction, mystery, and graphic novels selection that ensures you will go home happy.

7) Community Book Center, 2523 Bayou Rd.

Community Book Store on Bayou Rd. is another community focused store that has a great selection of African American and African writing. It's also the place to be for some truly amazing community events. There's always something thrilling to discover when you visit here.
