11 Funky Roadside Attractions You Can’t Find Anywhere Else But Kansas

Kansas has its share of oddities, whether you're looking at nature or the things we've created here. If you've ever seen these funky roadside attractions in Kansas before, you know how unique this state can really be. Have you seen them all? 1. World's Largest Hand Painted Czech Egg - Wilson

Many cultures paint complicated designs onto eggs every year, but this one in Wilson, Kansas is the largest of its kind. This giant egg is great for a photo op with your family and friends!

2. Johnny Kaw - Manhattan

A local Kansas folklore legend similar to Paul Bunyan, Johnny Kaw is responsible for creating our landscape. It's said that he dug the Kansas River Valley, planted wheat, and even invented sunflowers. What a nice man!

3. Garden of Eden - Lucas

This odd tourist attraction is a collection of sculptures of famous historical and mythological figures, many weathering away with time. The artist, Dinsmoor, is even here on the property, decomposing in a glass-windowed coffin.

4. Hot and Cold Water Towers - Pratt

Though these towers don't actually have any temperature differences, they sure are fun to photograph with on a road trip. These quick stops are always a funky attraction to make memories with.

5. Bowl Plaza - Lucas

Speaking of road trips, if you're in Lucas and you're considering using a business for your bathroom business, we suggest Bowl Plaza! This public restroom is one of the best in the country and is even shaped like its purpose.

6. Wheat Liberty Bell - Goessel

As far as unique items go, this liberty bell made entirely of wheat sure takes the cake. In the Mennonite Heritage Museum in Goessel, this beauty is the star of the show.

7. Dorothy's House & The Land Of Oz - Liberal

It wouldn't be Kansas without a little Oz, don't you think? Luckily, the whole family can stop by Dorothy's house whenever they're in Liberal.

8. Truckhenge - Topeka

When you're asked to pick up the junk in your yard, what else could you do? If you don't want to lose your trucks, might as well turn them into art.

9. Geographic Center of the Contiguous United States - Lebanon

Did you know there's a spot somewhere in Lebanon, Kansas, that represents the center of all the lower 48? Here, there's a tiny chapel with a guestbook and a flag you can visit on your trips.

10. Black Squirrel Statues - Marysville

Did you know that Marysville is home to more than a couple black squirrels? In statue form and living form, these oddities are a beautiful part of what makes Marysville unique.

11. Famous Gunfighters Wax Museum - Dodge City

If you can handle creepy wax figures that are just this side of uncanny, then this museum might make an interesting detour. Learn about outlaws and sharpshooters of the Old West as you look at scenes of their life back in the old days.
