A Sioux City company has been making life in Iowa a little tastier for more than 140 years. Palmer Candy Company produces some iconic candy, as well as awesome homemade brittle, sea salt caramels, gourmet truffles and more.

The company runs one of the sweetest museums you'll find anywhere, in a little store called Palmer's Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe. Here's a taste of what you'll find at the museum.

The company was founded by the Palmer family and the family is still in charge. Today, a fifth-generation family member runs the company and it's one of the country's oldest candy companies.

Palmer Company started by selling selling bulk and hard candy in wooden containers from the back of a fruit house. The company soon expanded to hand-dipped boxed chocolates and penny candy.

The museum has displays of antique candy-making equipment from Palmer's early days.

Interpretive signs and vintage photos explain how these machine's were once used to produce Palmer candy.

As interesting as the old candy machines are, you may find yourself getting a little distracted. This is a place with some major distractions!

Palmer's chocolate truffles are to die for. Truffle and fudge flavors include chewy praline, strawberry vanilla swirl and rocky road.

After all these years, Palmer still makes hard candy. The Rock Cut Candy is as pretty as it is sweet.
