Illinois’s Glowing Pumpkin Trail Is A Great Way To Celebrate Fall

The Chicago Botanic Garden hosts the Night of 1,000 Jack-O-Lanterns, a spectacular fall event featuring a glowing pumpkin trail.

The 385-acre Chicago Botanic Garden is one of the most lovely gems in all of Illinois, and it is even more beautiful in the fall. This Chicagoland attraction has been around for more than four decades and includes 27 different gardens to explore.

Taking place October 13 through the 17, 2021 and again October 20 through 24,2021, there will be an extra special event at this fabulous garden. Though beautiful in autumn regardless, this nighttime attraction puts a new glow on this popular place.

Get tickets for the Night of 1000 Jack-o'-Lanterns to enjoy the most astounding glowing pumpkin trail in Illinois. Gates open at 6 p.m., and while you can pay at the door, it is wise to secure your spot ahead of time.

Lasting only five days, this marvelous and popular fall event features 1,000 hand-carved pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Some even weigh as much as 150 pounds! A company out of New York called Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns spends many hours creating these intricate designs.

Along this glowing pumpkin trail, patrons will run into creepy characters and even get to watch live pumpkin carvings. Light refreshments, like cider and ale, will also be available for you to enjoy on this pumpkin hike.

Don't forget to stop by the Model Railroad Garden to see the ghostly trains. This traditional Chicago Botanic Garden area is even more astounding during the holidays. It's one of the best things to do in Illinois in the fall.

Admission for the Night of 1,000 Jack-o-Lanterns is $16 for adults ($14 for members) and $13 for children ($11 for members) if you buy tickets in advance. After October 23, the price increases by $2 per ticket. Click here to secure yours today.
