Someone Flew A Drone High Above Chicago And Captured The Most Breathtaking Footage

Drone footage captures iconic scenes of Downtown Chicago, showcasing its diverse architecture, parks, and waterways.

Chicago is one of the most beautiful and architecturally diverse cities in the world. It has a mix of parks, natural settings, towering buildings, beaches, waterways, museums, and so much more. It's impossible to capture it all in a day — unless you're this drone footage of Chicago, Illinois — which packs some of the city's most iconic Downtown scenes into a short, powerful video.

The footage begins in the daytime on a sunny morning and spans across the entire Downtown area — giving amazing perspective on landmarks like Soldier Field.

The video also grabs shots of Chicago's Downtown parks like Millennium Park, Grant Park, and Maggie Daley Park. These are the grounds where festivals like Lollapalooza and the Taste of Chicago usually take place, as well as where you can find "The Bean" statue (aka Cloud Gate).

A look toward the water reveals the gorgeous Lake Michigan, which feels like an ocean due to its massive width. The stunning blue color is breathtaking.

The lake also hugs Chicago's well-known Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable Lake Shore Drive — usually shortened to just Lake Shore Drive. The roadway spans most of the city's east side, going almost all the way to the northern and southern boundaries.

You should have to get extra training to drive in the city, and a view of Chicago's interstate exchange shows exactly why.

A more calming place to be is beside the powerful Chicago River, which boasts a combined 156 miles in length between its main artery and the many smaller canal and branch offshoots.

Of course, no view from above would be complete without some incredible shots of Chicago's skyscaper skyline. Notice how immediately outside the area of Downtown, the city begins to flatten and individual neighborhoods begin to emerge.

At night, Chicago is famous for its orange glow that can be seen from airplanes passing high above. The drone footage does a great job capturing the phenomena, and just how distinct it makes the city look at night against the black sky.
