George Martinak, a former World War I vet and camping enthusiast, deeded his 100-acre property filled with forests, marsh, and fields to the state of Maryland so that the public could enjoy it. Today, the state park is situated in Caroline County, marked by hardwood pines and bordered by the Choptank River and Watts Creek. Martinak State Park is located on Deep Shore Road in Denton, Maryland, and it's open between 8:00 a.m. and sunset each day.
