Hot Air Balloons Will Be Soaring At Illinois’ 5th annual Balloons Over Vermilion

Get ready to gaze up at the sky as hot air balloons soar above in all their colorful, mesmerizing glory. The much-anticipated Balloons Over Vermilion in Danville is an Illinois hot air balloon festival that is set to return for its eighth year this summer, so mark your calendars! This hot air balloon festival in Illinois is one event you don't want to miss.

Exciting times and things to look forward to are ahead, like Balloons Over Vermilion which is expected to return July 12-13, 2024. Gates will open at 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Vermilion Regional Airport where the event will take place.

Pilots from all over Illinois and neighboring states bring their balloons to this event. There will even be some special-shaped balloons in attendance, like a yellow bird and a cat.

This hot air balloon festival has something for everyone. Watch more than 30 hot air balloons ascend to the skies above the Vermilion countryside. It's a remarkable sight to behold!

Enjoy live music, vintage aircraft, an antique car show, a kids' zone, paid rides, a beer tent, and delicious food for purchase from several vendors.

Learn how balloons work at the balloon school or take a thrilling tethered balloon ride, which is great for someone who has never been on a hot air balloon before.

The event continues after dark with nightly fly-outs and stunning balloon glows.

The cost to attend Balloons Over Vermilion is $5/person and children under age 10 are free with a paid adult. It's an affordable event that will create lasting memories! Please keep in mind it is cash only!

Limited parking is available for $5/car and $25/RV. There will also be a shuttle bus available from several locations. This event is also cash only, so make sure you have enough on hand.
