See for yourself why this architectural gem is such a unique attraction.
Thousands of people come every year to Florida Southern College to enjoy the largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world.
Child of the Sun, as it is known, is located in Lakeland, Florida, and houses 12 original buildings constructed between 1941 and 1958.
Designated a National Historic Landmark, these buildings are unique representations of one of the greatest architects in the world.
The first completed Frank Lloyd Wright structure on campus was the Annie Pfeiffer Chapel, with other spots like the Water Dome and Ordway Building following suit.
The Danforth Chapel is another great treasure, filled with classic Wright details like midcentury colors and sleek wooden designs.
Wright’s contribution to the campus includes not one but two chapels, a stunning circular library, several seminar buildings, and a Usonian house.
When you tour the property, you’ll have a guided, front-row seat of your preferred length to explore the best of Wright’s Florida collection.
There are also self-guided tours too that are $5 per map. Tour maps are available at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitors Center to anyone who's interested.
Even creative tour options like Wright After Dark offers a unique glimpse into the life and work of Wright from an after-hours perspective.
With photographs, furniture, sketches, and more, you don’t want to miss a chance to enjoy this Florida treasure.
