Marvel At Ice Sculptures, Reindeer, And More At Connecticut’s Wintertide Festival This February

Winter festivals in Connecticut, like the Wintertide event at Mystic Seaport Museum, offer family-friendly activities to brighten up the winter season.

Winter in Connecticut after the holiday season doesn't have to be grim. Sure, by the time January 2 rolls around, things can feel a little depressing. The short days and endless cold can get tiresome. Luckily, there are plenty of winter festivals in Connecticut that are perfect for brightening up the dreariness of winter! One of our favorites is the Wintertide event in Mystic, held annually over Presidents' Day weekend at the Mystic Seaport Museum. The museum is one of our favorite attractions in the state at any time of year, but it's especially magical at this time. The family-friendly event is full of fun, with everything from ice-sculpture carving to real, live reindeer.

This year's Wintertide festival will take place Saturday, February 18 through Monday, February 20. The three-day Presidents' Day weekend is the perfect time to celebrate the frigid chill of winter before we start welcoming in spring.

At the Mystic Seaport Museum, you'll find all kinds of fun for the entire family to enjoy. There are fun activities, like "sock skating" and photo opportunities with ice.

You can even meet reindeer and winter working dogs!

Need to warm up? There will be fires to sit by, or you can head in to the cafe to enjoy a nice hot cocoa.

The ice sculpture demonstrations are fascinating. It's amazing what detailed works of art these skilled craftsmen can make!

The schedule also includes live music and planetarium shows (for an additional fee).
