This Country Store Has Some Of The Best Sweets In Connecticut

There's something so wonderfully nostalgic about visiting a country store in Connecticut. Whether you're old enough to remember the days when general stores were prevalent or you just like the retro vibe, these are great one-stop-shops that feel so much friendlier than a big box store or shopping online. While many country stores are sadly going by the wayside, there are still several great ones in the Nutmeg State to enjoy. One of our favorites is Cleveland's Country Store in Plymouth, CT. Tucked away in the darling Litchfield Hills, this picturesque town of 12,000 feels like a step back in time, and this country store is the perfect place to revel in that feeling. Not only does it carry locally-made goods and sundries like country stores of old, it also is home to The Sweet Tooth, a delicious candy store serving up all kinds of sweet treats. Check it out:

This family-owned and operated business provides a great opportunity to keep your dollars local.

It's housed in a 220-year old barn, which only adds to the nostalgic feel.

Nearly everything here is locally-produced in New England, and many of the items are even labelled with what farm they come from.

From salsas to dips, jams, and bread mixes, you can get all kinds of food here.

If you've got a sweet tooth though, you'll want to check out the aptly-named The Sweet Tooth side of the building!

It's filled with nostalgic candies galore, with plenty of items you may not have seen in years.

You can also get homemade fudge from Vermont-based Phenomenal Fudge, and Milford, CT-based Buck's Ice Cream.
