Connecticut's blue waters may not be as blue as the Pacific, but they still have their own magic. The dark blue hues at this local beach are just the beginning of its charm! So whether you're looking for a new place to go fishing or a nice spot for an afternoon swim, you'll love it here.
Welcome to Walnut Beach in Milford.
Located along the edge of the Long Island Sound, folks come here for the blue waters and scenic views. Besides the endless sea, one can also view the infamous Charles Island from anywhere on the shore.
The first thing you'll notice is the jaw-dropping pier.
As you make your way to the water, you'll probably get distracted by the view. Like something out of a movie, the sight of grass intertwining with beach is nothing short of enchanting. But that's only the beginning!
The next thing you'll notice is the soft white sand.
A lot of beaches in New England have rocky shores, along with broken sea shells and crabs. But here you can walk barefoot right along the water. Which means you can get up close and personal with these beautiful blue waters!
As you wade in, you'll be able to see straight to the bottom!
The clear, warm waters are perfect for taking a swim or just splashing around. And since the waters are choppy at best, you won't have to worry about getting hit by big waves. You're free to float and soak up the sunshine.
Of course, you can also come here for great fishing.
The large pentagon-shaped deck at the end of the pier is perfect for dropping a line and catching even more expansive ocean views. Visit the nearby Walnut Beach Creamery and snag an ice cream cone to enjoy on the dock. It makes for a perfect moment!
Remnants of the old pier add character to the already incredible beach.
Kids love crawling through here, and photographers just love taking pictures of it. It's a pretty neat sight, adding a unique feature on your trip to discover bluer waters.
There's also plenty of shallow water.
Want to look for cool stones or sea shells? Have little ones who can't get in the ocean just yet? This stream of water flows over a mossy ledge, which technically makes it a waterfall. It's the perfect space for quiet, leisurely water play.
The sunset is just a bonus.
And the water is so reflective of the sky here that you can't tell where one ends and the other begins! The only thing I know for sure is that if you haven't visited Walnut Beach then you've really been missing out.
