Every Beer Lover Must Try These 5 Connecticut Craft Breweries

In the past few years, the popularity of local craft beer has exploded. Beer enthusiasts are constantly seeking out creative new breweries to try. In Connecticut, they don't have to travel far. The craft beer trend has really taken off here, which means there are some amazing breweries right here in our state. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Brewport, Bridgeport

Head to Brewport for great pizza, fresh salads, and terrific beer served in a former newspaper distribution center. The decor pays homage to the building's original use. On a nice day, watch cars zoom around "the loop" from the patio.

2. Back East Brewery, Bloomfield

Back East is the creation of two cousins with a passion for great tasting craft beer. They brew a variety of ales and lagers available in cans and on draft.

3. City Steam Brewery, Hartford

City Steam serves their own brews and much more. With an extensive menu and nine (yes, nine) levels of seating, City Steam has something for everyone. Their gorgeous 160-person Richardson Room is available for events.

4. Brewery Legitimus, New Hartford

Just a few minutes from Ski Sundown, the tap room at Brewery Legitimus is large enough to gather with all of your best pals but cozy enough to make yourself comfortable. During the warmer months, the patio is a great hangout spot.

5. Black Hog Brewery, Oxford

The brothers who founded Black Hog Brewing bring their Polish/Italian family's love for food and drink into everything they do. At their Oxford taproom, they pair locally-sourced food with craft year round and seasonal brews. Based on the awards they've been given, it's safe to say they're good at what they do.
