It's been happening for over 50 years.
It started smaller way back when, but it's grown into an event that is attended by everyone in the area, plus by many travelers from distant places.
Wintersköl is full of fantastic mountain and community events. A king and queen are crowned at ACRA's Helen K. Klanderud Wintersköl Awards Luncheon.
The king and queen of Wintersköl are nominated by others and have contributed to the Aspen community in some way over the past year or over many years.
They get to wear crowns and these cool sashes!
There are lots of outdoor events, too. The US Air Force Drum & Bugle Cadets and the Red, Plaid & Blue Pipe Band come out to play for attendees.
Lots of other bands and performers perform as well.
There are snow sculptures all over town. They're created by local Colorado artist Thomas Barlow.
KIDSCUPLT is another Wintersköl event that gives teams from local schools a chance to create their own snow sculptures.
There's also a big focus on outdoor winter activities. After all, that's what Aspen is all about!
You can enjoy watching and participating in skiing, curling, broomball, fat biking, and other winter sports.
This year, a craft beer festival has been added to the list of events. The Toast of Winter Beer Festival will happen on January 13th in Wagner Park.
There are a number of parties to enjoy during Wintersköl, too, including a drag bingo brunch and a disco party on the Snowmass Base Village ice skating rink.
Soupsköl is a soup competition and you'll love trying all the soups. They're made by chefs from local restaurants.
On Saturday night, you can also enjoy a huge fireworks display over Aspen Mountain.
