This Interactive Art World Is the Best Way to Spend a Day Indoors in Denver
Step inside Meow Wolf: Convergence Station in Denver to cool off—and discover so much more.
You've surely driven by that weird-shaped, white building at Colfax and I-25 in Denver many times. It's a strange and unusual sight, lit up by a variety of colors on its facade at night. It surely seems intriguing. What is it? What goes on in there? What does "Meow Wolf" mean, anyway? It's about time you found out — and there's no better time than in the heat of the summer. Temperatures have hit well over 100 degrees several times this summer already, and we're all trying to escape the sweats!
You'll be happy to hear that Denver's Meow Wolf: Convergence Station is not only fully air-conditioned, but that the air conditioning is on blast. Step inside to cool off — and discover so much more. Read on to learn all about this unique and special place.
Meow Wolf is super cool — and not just temperature-wise (although that, too!). This hands-on, immersive, gigantic art museum is incredible and mysterious in every way. The first Meow Wolf location opened in Santa Fe in 2008, and then another location followed in Las Vegas in early 2021. Now we have one in Denver — the Convergence Station, which opened in late 2021. Two more opened in Texas after that, so now there are five, with two more in the works for New York City and Los Angeles.
They're all different and unique, so if you get the chance, you should take the time to check out all of them. The unique name, Meow Wolf, was devised when the original team chose words from a hat. They don't really have anything to do with the exhibits themselves, but the odd name somehow suits them just right.
Meow Wolf: Convergence Station is the largest Meow Wolf so far. Inside, you'll find 90,000 square feet of unusual exhibits to wander through, designed and created collectively by over 100 artists (including indigenous artists). And best of all - it's all air conditioned! You can take your time exploring it all, knowing that you'll be cool and comfortable the whole time. It's so cool in there that you might even want to bring an extra layer!
You can look at all the strange stuff in Meow Wolf, or you can choose to follow an actual "storyline." If you choose the storyline route, you will get a chance to use computer stations and follow clues throughout the museum to unravel a mystery by solving a series of puzzles along the way. I've made it partway through the storyline on past visits, but I never got all the way to the end. However, I know that when you do complete it, something very special happens — but I won't give away what that is here.
In addition to welcoming and amazing visitors, Meow Wolf: Convergence Station also offers events and concerts. This summer, through August 9th, guests can experience "Phenomenomaly," an ongoing event that is included with the price of admission. This event enhances the experience by incorporating elements like giant puppets, costumed characters, and custom music into the mix. Phenomenomaly surely makes something that's already super special and unique even more special, unique, and memorable — so catch it before it ends.
There's also a music venue attached to Meow Wolf: Convergence Station, and it's a great (and cool) place to see concerts this summer, too. Upcoming acts for August 2025 include MC Chris, Fever 333, Vanic, Dessa, Uncle Lucius, and Mehro. In the same space, on Sunday, August 3rd, Meow Wolf: Convergence Station will host "Flexi-Verse: Buti GLOW". This 18+ event features body painting and yoga in a black-lit environment, fun for all who participate.
Meow Wolf: Convergence Station is the perfect place to beat the heat in Denver this summer! You're sure to love everything about it. You'll immediately appreciate the brisk, indoor environment, and then you'll be pleasantly surprised by all else that this very special place has to offer! Have a great, comfortable, refreshing, and chilly time!
