Five Different Planets Will Align In The Colorado Night Sky During An Incredibly Rare Display

Colorado offers a diverse array of stunning natural wonders, including canyons, waterfalls, caves, and scenic vistas.

Space: The final frontier… For centuries, the mysteries of space have fascinated humanity, making any and all celestial events all the more exciting! That being said, there is one astronomical event going on in the Colorado night sky, that you do not want to miss:

Taking place from March 25 until March 30, 2023, is the aligning of five planets, which should be visible to the naked eye after the sun sets.

If you have been wondering what planets are visible tonight in Colorado, this is a special event that only happens every 18 years!

Occurring only in this tiny window of time at the end of March, Coloradans will be able to see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus all in a vertical arc, with Mercury (pictured) located just on the horizon.

Please note: During the spring, sunset in Colorado takes place at around 7:20 p.m., so plan to be outside shortly before then for your chance to see the planets.

Once the sun sets in the west, Mercury and Jupiter should be visible just above the horizon.

Your best chance to catch all five planets in one night is before March 28 as Jupiter may fall below the horizon before the sun sets after that date.

Look for the crescent moon to see the red dot of Mars closest to the moon with the rest following an arc toward the horizon.

When we say that this is an incredibly rare display, we mean it, as the last time this occurred was in 2004!

The best place to see this rare event is away from city lights. And while you can see all five planets with the naked eye a pair of binoculars or even a telescope will bring them in closer.
