Grand Lake, Colorado is a wonderful little mountain town to visit anytime. This small town of just 400 year-round residents is on the shores of Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake, is surrounded by mountains, and is the western gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

One of the biggest and best events of the year in Grand Lake is Buffalo Days. This fantastic festival has been going on for almost eight decades now, and there's no better time than the present to make it a tradition of your own.

Buffalo Days is full of fun events that the whole family can enjoy. On Friday, you can participate in Cowboy Paint and Sip, western line dancing, and an outdoor movie night.

This year, the movie is Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey from 1993.

On Saturday morning, you can participate in or watch the Buffalo Days 5K Race.

All day, there will be "cowboy games" set up around town like giant board games and more, and there's also a corn hole tournament.

The Pie Baking Contest was a new addition last year. Bring your best pie to be judged and win prizes!

There's also a pie-eating contest. The Grand County Sheriffs compete against each other at this exciting event to raise money for local charities.

In the evening, you can enjoy the Buffalo BBQ sponsored by Sagebrush BBQ & Grill. There's plenty of food for everyone!

You can enjoy the food while you listen to the music at the Lakefront Music Festival right on the shores of the lake.

It starts at 4:00 and goes until 9:00. This year, acts include Reed Alleman, Country Music Project, and Lance Rogers.

Once the music is over, there's a huge fireworks display over the lake!

But wait! The fun's not over yet! On Sunday morning, the Buffalo Days Cowpoke Parade passes through town. You'll love the horses, floats, and costumes.

This year, the Parade Grand Marshalls are Bob Scott and Lou Lybrand of local business Bob Scott's Authentic Indian Jewelry. Their contributions to the community and their commitment to preserving Native American art and craftsmanship make them well-known local heroes.

You and your friends and family will have so much fun at Buffalo Days in Grand Lake that you'll surely want to come back every year.
