The Sky Above This Small Town In Colorado Will Soon Be Filled With Hot Air Balloons And You Don’t Want To Miss It
On July 4th weekend every year, the City of Delta in western Colorado always puts on a fantastic fireworks display. This year, they're taking the weekend celebrations up a notch by adding an entire hot air balloon festival to the weekend as well! Everybody loves seeing hot air balloons, and you can see a bunch of them in Delta this year. The 4th of July Western Sky Balloon Festival is sure to be a big hit!
Delta is a city on Colorado's Western Slope. It's near Montrose and has a population of about 10,000 residents.
The people of Delta are friendly and welcoming and the downtown area is lovely. The Delta Egyptian Theatre, shown here, opened in 1928 and is a real gem.
Delta is a great place to visit at any time of the year, but the 4th of July Weekend may be the very best time! This year is the inaugural year of the 4th of July Western Sky Balloon Festival, and it's going to be great!
Activities are happening all over town but the balloons will be taking off from Confluence Park. This space is vast and is a wonderful place to watch these balloons fly.
You'll have opportunities to see balloons all weekend. They'll be flying at many different times - both morning and night.
The backdrop will be the incredible landscape around Delta. It's a really beautiful area.
If you get up early, you can watch them take off on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday between 6 and 8 a.m.
They'll also fly each evening at sunset.
The balloons are the main attraction of this event, but there are so many other things to see and do during the festival, too. There are pancake breakfasts on Monday and Tuesday.
There are also food trucks and a beer/wine garden to visit all day Monday and Tuesday.
You can climb the rock climbing wall and rent paddleboards from The Nature Connection.
Kids will love a variety of games and activities happening over the weekend. There's a parade on Tuesday, too!
You can watch skydivers from Ultimate Skydiving Adventures jump out of airplanes on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
There is also a firefighter competition at 10:30 a.m. on Monday!
If you like to play cornhole, don't miss the cornhole tournament.
There's a pickleball tournament, too!
You'll also be excited to know that there's lots of live music over the course of the festival as well.
On Monday, you can see Ghost River (shown here), The Last Spike, and Remi Mae Music.
On Tuesday, you can dance to Paul Chamberlain, Jedi George, and Stray Grass (shown here).
On Tuesday night, the entire festival ends with fireworks put on by Delta County Fire Protection District #1.
It's going to be quite a celebration!
The 4th of July Western Sky Balloon Festival is going to be truly spectacular! There is no better way to celebrate this great country of ours on the Western Slope. Have so much fun and Happy Independence Day, everyone!
