San Franciscans can be hard to please, but there's one attraction that may just have something for everyone. The California Academy of Sciences offers a variety of unique and interactive exhibitions that are both fun and educational. California Academy of Sciences is a respected scientific and educational institution dedicated to exploring, explaining, and sustaining life on Earth.
The California Academy of Sciences is located in Golden Gate Park and open Monday–Saturday from 9:30 am – 5 pm and Sunday: 11 am–5 pm.
Once you're inside you'll see that there are many exhibits, floors, and areas to see like the Rainforest, Living Roof, African Penguins, The Swamp, and Planetarium.
You'll see an artifical rainforest that's full of life from birds to exotic reptiles, amphibians, and enormous Amazonian fish that pass overhead. Wow!
The living roof is more than beautiful, and a main attraction of the Academy. The roof features seven hills lined with 50,000 porous, biodegradable vegetation trays and solar panels.
The aquarium is one of the most biologically diverse and interactive aquariums in the world. There are about 40,000 animals with views of underwater life that will thrill you!
You'll be floored by the wide and fascinating view of underwater life at the aquarium.
Take time to wonder around and give yourself at least 2-3 hours for a full experience. The lush tropical trees, plants, and other animals will make you forget about the winter too!
The Academy features an African Penguin Colony, which is part of a Species Survival Plan.
Educate yourself and spend time at the impressive evolution exhibit, which focuses on islands as venues for evolution. The dynamic and numerous things to do are plentiful at the Academy.
