Over 3,000 Ancient Petroglyphs Line The Walls Of Rock Art Ranch In Arizona

Rock Art Ranch in Holbrook, Arizona, features over 3,000 well-preserved petroglyphs and offers a unique glimpse into Native American history.

Petroglyphs can be found all across Arizona, but it's rare to find so many in one place. Rock Art Ranch in Holbrook boasts over 3,000 ancient cave drawings, and most of them are surprisingly well-preserved.

A privately-owned cattle ranch near Winslow, this hidden gem is sacred land full of mysticism and incredibly well-preserved examples of Native American culture and history.

The area has been inhabited to some degree for the past 13,000 years.

Everyone from hunting and gathering groups to both semi-nomadic and sedentary farmers passed through at some point in time.

More than 3,000 petroglyphs have been discovered on the ranch, the majority of which have been dated between 5000 B.C. and 1400 A.D.

Among the images you'll see are people, animals, and a variety of symbols.

Guests can walk through a two-mile stretch of canyon to marvel at the drawings.

Most ages and skill levels can enjoy the stroll, as it doesn't involve a lot of steep inclines or other difficult attributes.

You'll also see excavated Anasazi dwellings, plus a Navajo hogan and sweat lodge.

A small museum on the grounds features Native American artifacts in addition to cowboy and pioneer items.

Ranch owner Brantley Baird regularly brings in renowned archaeologists who help excavate and interpret the relics.
