This Budget-Friendly Day Trip Destination In Arizona The Entire Family Will Enjoy

What are some of your favorite family-friendly day trips around Arizona? Some of mine are day trips to Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon as well as Payson and Pine. Another favorite of mine, which is quite a budget-friendly day trip in Arizona, is Goldfield Ghost Mine. Located just over an hour from Scottsdale, it's easy to get to and so much fun!

If you've ever been to Goldfield Ghost Town, you know how fun it can be. Established in 1893, this was once a thriving gold mining town complete with three saloons, a boarding house, a general store, a blacksmith shop, and several other shops that were a sign of the times.

Just like any other old mining town, business eventually died out and people left. And, thus, Goldfield became a ghost town.

Today, visitors from all over the state and the country come to view what life was like in the mining town's hey-day. Costumed characters walk around and, during certain times of the day, you can even witness a gunfight reenactment.

One thing I love about bringing my kids here is the fact that there's no admission to visit and walk around the ghost town.

However, there are certain activities that require a fee like the zip line, the narrow gauge railroad, the Superstition Reptile Exhibit, The Mystery Shack, Goldfield's Historic Museum, gold panning, and a tour of Lu Lu’s Bordello at Goldfield.

Despite the admission fees for certain attractions here, this is still an incredibly affordable day-trip destination for the whole family.

And you can even enjoy the views of the Superstitions from here!
