The Little-Known Church Hiding In Alabama That Is An Absolute Work Of Art

Alabama is a huge part of the Bible Belt, so it's not surprising that you'll encounter a variety of churches throughout the state. Even though some of the churches are much bigger and older than others, they're all special in their own right. One of these churches in particular is the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Once you step inside, you'll see that this church is an absolute work of art.

The Cathedral of Saint Paul, which is located in downtown Birmingham, is one of Alabama's most beautiful churches.

After entering this spectacular church, which practices Roman Catholicism, you'll encounter the beautiful sanctuary. This magnificent room features a semicircular domed apse, ten solid granite columns and...

...gorgeous stained glass windows that reflect 19th century piety and devotional practices.

There's also a variety of statues on the inside and outside of the church, most of which honor religious figures.

The view from the church's altar is as wonderful as the view from the pews. The original church was built in 1872, and the current cathedral was completed in 1893. The Cathedral of Saint Paul was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The chapel is another beautiful room inside of the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Along with its stained glass windows, it features lovely fixtures, candles and more.
