What are the best winter hikes in Delaware?
Delaware can be a magical place to experience the winter season. And, if you don’t mind bundling up a bit, you can even explore the state’s most enchanting outdoor attractions. In fact, we’d argue that there are some trails that are even more beautiful during the colder months. One of our top recommendations would be a visit to Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. Breathtaking in any season, this park is truly breathtaking in the winter. With fewer crowds and more solitude to enjoy, Cape Henlopen State Park is the perfect place to reflect as you soak in the stunning natural landscape. Looking for a unique activity? Take the Bike Loop Trail and climb to the top of a World War II Observation Tower. It’s a wonderful place to appreciate the unique history and scenery of the park.
Next up on our list of unique winter destinations in Delaware is Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Smyrna. If you visit on an especially cold day, you may even get to see Raymond Pool completely frozen over. And, if you look closely enough, you might notice the faint animal tracks of the wildlife that crosses over the frozen pond. It’s truly magical! Some other outdoor winter destinations in Delaware you should experience include White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, Lums Pond State Park in Bear, Blackbird State Forest in Smyrna, Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington, Killens Pond State Park in Felton, Trap Pond State Park in Laurel, Delaware Seashore State Park on Fenwick Island, and Bellevue State Park in Wilmington. Have you experienced any of these magical Delaware attractions?
