Washington DC is situated among several waterways including the Potomac River, Anacostia River and the C&O Canal. While these rivers are beneficial to the ecosystem of the city, they also provide spectacular views for DC residents who long for more natural scenery. These 9 restaurants on the river are the perfect place to enjoy a nice meal with a beautiful view.

Another Navy Yard favorite, Due South is known for its flavorful Southern meals and rustic environment right the water. They have a patio that's open during the spring and summer.

The Slip Inn is a relaxed spot where you can enjoy the beautiful views of the Potomac River and Old Alexandria from their patio. Dine on barbecue favorites and listen to live music on Fridays in the summer.

The elegant Roof Terrace Restaurant sits atop of The Kennedy Center. It’s often busy on show days but you can also enjoy brunch with a side of beautiful Potomac River views.

While not technically just a restaurant, we couldn’t leave Captain White’s off our list. This fish market serves prepared food so you can order some hot and fresh seafood and eat it right away while sitting right on the river.
