Every spring Washingtonians and tourists look forward to the magical four weeks where the district lights up with pink and white. Everyone must experience this time honored tradition. The National Cherry Blossom festival is is truly the best festival in Washington DC.

The Cherry Blossom Festival takes place every spring to commemorate the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry tress from Mayor of Tokyo, Yukio Ozaki to the city of Washington DC. The festival celebrates the friendship between the US and Japan.
The annual parade is one of the more popular signature events, which runs for 10 blocks along Constitution Avenue. The parade features floats, entertainers, performers and marching bands.
The Cherry Blossom festival kicks off kite season at the Blossom Kite Festival. Kite makers and fliers from across the countries compete in competitions and participate in demonstrations. There are also activity stations for children.
The Festival winds down with a fireworks festival at the Southwest Waterfront. There is live music, a beer garden, food trucks and activities all before the spectacular fireworks festival.
And, of course, the real reason for the festival are the cherry blossoms. Photographers, visitors and residents flock downtown to capture photos of the beautiful trees around the Tidal Basin.
