1. National Asian Heritage Festival
Also know as Fiesta Asia, this fun street fair celebrates and showcases Asian art and culture through live performances, demonstrations and cultural displays. This year’s event takes place on May 7th.
2. Saint Sophia DC Greek Festival
This fun local Greek festival is a three day extravaganza with authentic Greek food, live music and fun for the entire family. This year’s festival is May 19-21.
3. Fiesta DC
Fiesta DC is annual event celebrating Latino heritage and culture. Visitors are entertained by Native Latino dance troupes and live music performers. There is also a children’s festival, arts and crafts activities and delicious international cuisine available. The event normally takes place in September but dates have not been set for 2017.
4. DC Turkish Festival
The Turkish Festival caps off Turkish Heritage Month. This celebration highlights the regions of Turkey with a Turkish Bazaar, amazing performances, delicious Turkish food and the beloved Turkish coffee. The event will take place in September.
5. Francophonie Festival
This unique festival celebrates the diversity of the French language and its cultures. More than 40 embassies collaborate to present a special celebration about the Francophone culture, from Africa to the Americas, Asia and the Middle East. The festival takes place in March in 2017.
6. Sakura Matsuri - Japanese Festival
Sakura Matsuri is the largest one-day festival dedicated to Japanese culture in the United States every year. The event takes place during the Cherry Blossom Festival and features a fantastic parade as well as four stages featuring vibrant performances.
7. Cinco De Mayo Festival
The National Cinco De Mayo Festival is a free cultural celebration that offers live performances of Latin music, dance contest, art exhibits, cultural demonstrations and, of course, delicious authentic cuisine!
8. Chinese New Year Festival
The Chinese New Year Festival in DC celebrates chinese New Year with a parade, Chinese Dragon Dances, live music and much, much more! It’s a 15-day event that happens between late January and middle of February every year.
9. Wunder Garten Oktoberfest
NoMa’s Beer Garden hosts an Oktoberfest celebration with traditional food, games, beer and events. Enjoy Bavarian meals and all the fun of this great cultural event. This year’s dates have not been set.
