Fall is one of the best times to be in Washington DC. The summer humidity has cooled off and the winter chill hasn’t quite set in just yet. The leaves begin changing and the festivals flock to the street giving Washingtonians something to do on crisp fall weekends. Here are 10 unique fall festivals in Washington DC that you won’t find anywhere else!

1. H Street Festival
The H Street Festival showcases the vibrant community of the area. There are more than 500 local and regional artists on 14 stages as well as an array of international cuisine, shopping, educational events and art by the local community.
2. Snallygaster DC
Snallygaster is DC’s giant craft beer festival. The largest craft beer festival in the area is a one day epic beer event with 350 craft beers from around the world. This year’s festival is taking place on Saturday, September 17th at the Yards Park.
3. District Oktoberfest
District Oktoberfest is DC’s official kickoff to the German holiday. Happening in Chinatown, visitors enjoy a premium Oktoberfest beer, food pairings, liquor pairings, excitement and tons of fun! September 17th and 18th when you take the metro to Chinatown, you’ll arrive in Germany!
4. Fiesta DC Latino Festival
Fiesta DC celebrates the Latino culture and heritage. Featuring the Parade of Nations, you can see Native Latino dance troupes, contemporary performers and enjoy delicious international cuisine and beverage from different vendors. Fiesta DC is September 17th-18th at Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd St and 7th St.
5. DC Vegfest
DC VegFest is the healthy festival of the fall! This free festival focuses on the benefits and flavors of vegan eating. Enjoy free delicious samples from 130 vendors, live music, a beer garden, cooking demonstrations and much more this September 24th.
6. Turkish Festival
The annual Turkish Festival showcases the Turkish culture, arts, fashion, music and food. Enjoy Turkish performances, shop at the Turkish Bazaar, try Turkish culinary delights and learn about Turkey’s rich history.
7. Taste of DC
The Taste of DC is a multi-day culinary event on Pennsylvania Avenue featuring some food from the best area restaurants, live entertainment and tons of fun. You can try food from the area’s top chefs, taste drinks from the best mixologists and enjoy tasty treats at every stop!
8. National Book Festival
The Library of Congress hosts the National Book Festival every September. Book worms will love this free event where authors flock to DC to read from their latest books and offer special Q&A sessions and autographs. This year’s event features Stephen King.
9. Kids Euro Festival
Take a trip around Europe without a passport at Kids Euro Festival! The Kids Euro Festival is a two week long festival of European arts and culture including performances, concerts, workshops, movies and more! Kids Euro Festival is taking place October 26 - November 6 this year.
10. Mount Vernon Fall Harvest Days
Celebrate fall just outside of DC at George Washington’s former home at Fall Harvest Family Days! There are wagon wides, a straw maze, blacksmithing demonstrations, corn husk doll demonstrations and tons of American games and music and fun for the whole family. Mount Vernon Fall Harvest Family Days will be on October 22-23rd.
