When you are deciding on where to go out to eat, you want enjoyable food but also a pleasant atmosphere. For those who love a dinner with a view, these choices can be hard to make. There are quite a few rivers in Connecticut, but we all know that riverfront views are sometimes hard to come by especially when you are dining. These six restaurants offer not only fantastic river views, but some flavorful food as well.
1. Stone's Throw Restaurant, Seymour
Sitting right on the Housatonic River, the Stone's Throw Restaurant offers plenty of outdoor seating and is a local hot spot for watching the sun set. Their dinner menu is a mix of delicious local seafood like mussels from the Thimble Islands. They also offer short ribs, duck, steak and shrimp - to name a few items. For lunch, you can find quite a few delightful sandwiches like the lobster salad sandwich or the fried portabello mushroom wrap. For some beautiful scenery and creative American food this restaurant on the river is a great choice.

2. Anastasio’s Boat House Cafe, New Haven
Anastasio's Boat House Cafe sits right next to the Quinnipiac River and has outdoor seating where you can watch the boats pass. This restaurant has some of the most appetizing breakfast items in the area - and they don't charge extra for the views. The menu offers waffles with fruit baked into them, omelettes of all kinds, grits and so much more — and all at a very reasonable price. Later in the day, they serve some hearty sandwiches with fantastic homemade potato chips and their fried seafood baskets are also a nice traditional option.

3. Stonebridge Restaurant, Milford
Stonebridge Restaurant on the Wepawaug River is a great destination if you are looking for something a little upscale. They have a gorgeous formal dining room, but for those who want a bit more casual, you can eat in the mahogany bar area. The menu showcases New England seafood and classic American dishes. The ahi tuna tacos are a great bite, the truffle fries are exceptional and of course there is lobster on a roll or in a scrumptious seafood pot pie.

4. The Blue Oar, Haddam
If you are searching for a casual dining experience on the Connecticut River, look no further. The Blue Oar has colorful picnic table seating right on the water. The food is an exceptional mix of seafood and American dishes. They have oh so yummy lobster rolls and the scallops are cooked to perfection. This restaurant does have dock parking, so feel free to travel by jet ski, boat or kayak to this popular restaurant.

5. Mill On The River, South Windsor
The romantic setting of The Mill On The River restaurant makes it a favorite spot for celebrating anniversaries of all kinds. You are sure to find something tasty on their menu. The tender and juicy prime rib comes highly recommended by many. There are many different and delicious pasta options and plenty of seafood choices like the sea bass over shellfish with a luscious broth. The water is beautiful and the kissing bridge that crosses the Podunk River is a favorite place for couples.

Situated on the Farmington River, Apricots Restaurant and Pub is home to some creative new American chow. Guests love that their are fried pickles on the menu since they can be hard to come by up here in New England.
