What are the best beaches in Connecticut?

Most Connecticut beaches sit along the Long Island Sound where the water is calmer than the Atlantic and is ideal for both boats and swimming. The state has some pristine beaches that you will want to visit and we have put together a hidden beaches road trip to guide you to the best ones. The trip starts at Cove Island Park in Stamford where you can ride a tram around the 83-acre park and head to the beach with its soft white sand. The trip also leads to Milford Point which is part of the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center in Milford and Hole-in-the-Wall Beach in Niantic which is the perfect spot for families with young children.

What are the best places to swim in Connecticut?

Oftentimes, the best places to swim are places are that are hidden away, places you may have to hike to. Read our article on five waterfall swimming holes you have to visit in Connecticut to learn about several peaceful places to swim where you’ll be surrounded by nature and mostly quiet. In Granby, Enders Falls at Enders Falls State Park has a lovely pool underneath a waterfall and, best of all, it doesn’t have the crowds you may find elsewhere. One of the best swimming spots in the state is Indian Wells Falls in Shelton. Enclosed by a crater, this swimming hole is reachable by a 0.2-mile hike.
