This Is The Absolute Best Town In Connecticut To Visit During The Halloween Season

When it comes to traveling in the autumn, many people tend to stick to destinations with great fall foliage in Connecticut. After all, one of the best parts about the season is the magical transformation of all the greenery into fall's golden hues. But there are so many other great things about fall, from haunted houses to apple cider and pumpkin picking. One particularly fun time is the month of October, when the focus is all about the chilly weather and approach of Halloween, before we get too hyper-focused on Thanksgiving and Christmas. One of the best places to celebrate Halloween in Connecticut is Old Wethersfield. This charming historic district has so much to love and it's so much fun in the fall!

Old Wethersfield is great to visit at any time of year. The town has more than 1,100 historic buildings over two square miles. Founded in 1633, it's the oldest European-settled city in the state.

In October, this place is particularly magical. The town has been hosting the Scarecrows Along Main Street event for nearly 30 years.

Walk through town and you'll find dozens of adorable Halloween-themed displays.

The scarecrows (and skeletons, witches, ghosts, and just about any other characters you can think of!) are set up by local families and businesses.

These delightful displays are up through the entirety of the month of October and can be seen in just about every corner of Old Wethersfield.

A walk through this Nutmeg State small town is always pleasant, but the scarecrows make it even more enjoyable. This is one of our favorite Halloween events in Connecticut.
