What are some fun holiday festivals in Colorado?

If you want to get into the Christmas spirit, you can’t top the festivities offered in Breckenridge in December. This wonderful small town will make you feel like you are in a scene of a Christmas movie with the snow-covered mountains, twinkling Christmas lights, and extensive holiday decorations. While visiting Breckenridge, you can complete all of your holiday shopping at the many shops and boutiques that are scattered around the town. You are also near heart-racing winter activities such as sledding, skiing, and ice skating. Plus, this town hosts multiple holiday events such as the Race of the Santas and the Lighting of Breckenridge Christmas festival that you won’t want to miss!

What’s winter in Colorado like?

There’s nothing better than winter in Colorado, when the whole state looks like something out of an enchanting snow globe scene. Colorado receives between 60-100 inches of the white stuff each year — much more in its mountain towns — which makes for all sorts of epic outdoor recreation. From skiing and snowboarding to sledding and ice skating (and even ice bumper cars!), winter in Colorado is, simply, perfect. So bundle up and enjoy this snowy season!

What are some other fun things to do during the winter in Colorado?

While the usual suspects — snowboarding and skiing — are great wintertime pastimes in Colorado, we’re all about taking the road less traveled. As such, we recommend going for some winter hikes; depending on the temperatures, you might even catch a glimpse of a frozen waterfall or some wondrous wildlife. Of course, we wouldn’t blame you if you prefer to spend Colorado’s coldest months admiring the snow while staying warm and cozy indoors; Vail and Telluride are some of the best places in the country to do just that!
