You have put the pedal to the metal a time or two by go-kart racing with your buddies, but have you ever tried driving on ice? No, we aren't talking about snow-packed roads but rather an iced-over lake, which you will find via Aspen Ice Karting at Kodiak Ski Lake in Colorado. This place is only open between Christmas and mid-February, so plan your visit today. You'll love this adventure and unique activity, and you'll never forget the fun you have riding these go karts on ice. Go-karting on ice is like nothing you've ever done before!
Open late December through February (weather pending), Aspen Ice Karting is an epic, one-of-a-kind experience that invites drivers to "get sideways" with them!
Located atop a frozen lake near Aspen (hence the name!), Aspen Ice Karting features 5 CRG frame karts that can get up to speeds of 45 to 50 miles per hour, allowing you to "drift, fly, and maneuver" around the ice.
Are you nervous about driving on a lake? As per Aspen Ice Karting, Kodiak Ski Lake is both shallow and man-made and freezes over completely during the coldest part of winter, making it a safer alternative to other bodies of water.
Please note: Reservations are required, and drop-ins will not be permitted.
Aspen Ice Karting costs $45 per person for a 10-minute ride or $80 per person for a 20-minute ride and includes your vehicle, helmet, and mask.
Remember to also bring a cash tip for the helpers!
