This Denver Restaurant Has A Fireside Lounge And Amazing Italian Food
Imagine someone traveling to different regions of Italy in search of authentic and interesting foods with unique flavors, and bringing them back to create similar dishes for you to try. If this would be a dream come true for you, dining at Tavernetta, located near Denver’s bustling Union Station, will make this a very delicious reality.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
When you walk through the doors of Tavernetta, you can step away from the action-packed transportation hub, and be welcomed to a comfortable Italian restaurant that prides itself in hospitality.
Tavernetta was created by the award-winning restaurateurs that also brought us Frasca Food & Wine and Pizzeria Locale.
This restaurant, which is located just across from Union Station's train platform, originally opened in September of 2017, but experienced a kitchen fire just 8 days later. They re-opened in November after 7 weeks of repairs.
You will feel right at home no matter where you are seated, and can choose to experience your meal in the stone-walled dining room (or "grotto" as it is referred to), or the cozy fireside lounge.
The lounge offers a little more laid-back atmosphere and stellar viewpoints for people watching as the windows look directly out to the train platform.
The large, open kitchen is the centerpiece of Tavernetta, where you get the opportunity to watch the magic happen as the chefs prepare your meal.
Tavernetta was inspired by the food, wine, and culture of Italy and the fresh pastas, small plates, and all-Italian wine list will make you feel as if you have hopped on a plane and traveled there yourself.
You'll want to try one of their made from scratch pasta dishes like this house-extruded Campanelle Noodle with rotisserie lamb, escarole, and pecorino.
The chefs at Tavernetta have created an authentic Italian cuisine that they have adapted using local ingredients.
The popular Carpaccio alla Cipriani features grass fed beef, Parmigiano-reggiano, and ailoi.
Somehow, after indulging in the delightful Italian fare for your main course, you're going to want to save room for their mouth-watering dessert options.
With everything from Tiramisu to Panna Cotta to house-made seasonal Gelato and Sorbet, choosing which one to order won't be easy.
While the inside of Tavernetta, with its intimate and homey surroundings is hard to beat, you can also choose to eat outside in one of their patio areas where you can have a front row seat to watch the trains come and go while enjoying an unforgettable dining experience.
You can experience Tavernetta for yourself at 1889 16th St. in Denver, CO 80202.
They are open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. If you time things right, you might even hit up their daily happy hour from 3-6 p.m.
